A pair of Pecten novaezelandiae by Claudia Leitgeb
A pair of Pecten novaezelandiae by Claudia Leitgeb
Exceptionally rare New Zealand black scallop shells, sourced from the North Island coast, are used as the focal point of Claudia’s Pecten novaezelandiae series. Each shell, a rare, deep black, has been transformed to silver. Through masterful control of light, tone, and shadow, Claudia reveals what she refers to as the ‘silver soul’. This special series embodies ancestral presence and protection.
Print Paper
Fine Art Ilford, Smooth Pearl.
This is a high definition image of silver shells set within a deep black field, where the background forms part of the composition, creating the effect of the shells appearing to float in a black void. When framed under glass, reflections enhance the depth and floating effect of the work.
